Hi, I’m James Statts — founder of Trumansburg Electric and a licensed master electrician with nearly a decade of hands-on experience running a successful electrical company.
I studied electrical engineering at Northeastern University and launched Statts Electric in Paoli, Pennsylvania in the summer of 2016. The company took off quickly, and I put school on hold to focus full-time on the business. Over the next nine years, I grew the team to 5–7 employees and served hundreds of residential and commercial clients with pride and precision. I became a Pennsylvania Master Electrician in 2016 and earned my ICC Master Electrician certification in 2019.
In 2025, I sold Statts Electric to my two best employees and moved with my fiancée Meggie to Trumansburg, New York — a place we fell in love with during camping trips starting in 2018. Between the lakes, the trails, the farmers markets, and the community, we knew it was the right place to put down roots and raise a family.
Now, I’ve launched Trumansburg Electric with a new vision: to stay small, serve the local community with quality and care, and make time for the things that matter — like finishing the last 11 credits of my electrical engineering degree and starting a family with Meggie.

My Story
A Lifelong Path Toward the Trade
My name is James Statts, founder of Trumansburg Electric. My journey with electrical work began early — as a kid, working alongside my father, a mechanical engineer and master tradesman who ran his own contracting business while still a student at Radnor High School. He introduced me to the science of electricity, the principles of engineering, and the value of doing things the right way, not the easy way.
By the age of 15, I was already doing small contracting and electrical jobs on my own. After graduating from Conestoga High School, I followed in my father’s footsteps to study engineering at Northeastern University. While in Boston, I worked for a property management company maintaining over 300 buildings, deepening both my hands-on skills and my understanding of the systems behind the walls.
In 2016, I launched Statts Electric. What started as a summer job and solo venture quickly grew into a thriving company with a strong team and an even stronger reputation.
Now in Trumansburg, I carry that same foundation of knowledge, care, and craftsmanship into every project. I’m grateful for the years of learning — from my dad, from the field, and from every client who has trusted us with their homes and businesses. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing a project come together and knowing it’s built to last.
